In practicality, changing the way we do things usually can be a tough job. In other words, if you are used to behaving in a certain way, it can be difficult to change it. Moreover, when it comes to emotions, it is all the more tedious. For instance, if we are feeling a surge of emotions, the last thing we do is to stay calm.
On the other hand, all we do is a rant about the situation and curse our lives. On a happier note, if we analyze how our emotions work, we can use them for a better advantage. Similarly, it's your emotions that lead you to make decisions and life choices. Also, one of the best things you can do is to learn the art of controlling your emotions.
One of the most emotional parts of the brain is the limbic. Additionally, it is one of the oldest parts. Since it is old, it is an extremely strongest part of the brain. This is the reason emotions have the power to hijack our minds. The average individual's emotional part is six billion times active as compared to the other parts. Besides, your emotions have a strong impact on your thinking. However, there are multiple ways you can deal with it. Our emotions or feelings can change between extremes.
Additionally, negative emotions like jealousy, anger, rage, envy, bitterness can go out of control. They also hurt our minds and steer us from thinking logically. Similarly, these kinds of thoughts can worsen our sense of thinking. In addition, it can be detrimental to our health. So what is the solution to this?
How can we deal with emotions?
How can we control our minds and emotions for a better living? Let's look at some tips and tricks which may work out for you.
1. Don't react right away
The first mistake that occurs is when we react right away. Reacting immediately can make matters worse. Additionally, it is almost guaranteed that you will regret what you said or did in the heat of the moment.
However, you can take a deep breath and calm down as tough as it might seem. You can continue to breathe deeply and wait until you become calm to react. Alternatively, you can divert your mind to something interesting, which shifts your focus. As you calm your mind and body, learn it is just a temporary phase.
2. Find a healthy outlet
Now that you have calmed down, you need to release your emotions in a better way. Furthermore, emotions should never be guarded or bottled up. Find a way to release feelings and emotions. Additionally, you can also call or meet someone close to you and talk it out. This will help in releasing your feelings. In addition, it will make you feel calm.
Moreover, hearing to others' opinions broadens your horizons and opens your mind. Besides, you can also maintain a journal and write the happenings. Some people find aggressive forms of exercise as a way to release emotions. Either engage in kickboxing or martial arts to let go of the negative emotions.
3. Observe the bigger picture
Every situation or happening in our lives has a bigger purpose to it. All you need to do is be calm and observe the reasons why it took place. Additionally, you may not understand it at the moment, but eventually, you will. Furthermore, when you have moments of breakdown, remain calm. Also, understand this too has a purpose or motive which will fall into place. Trust yourself to sail through the tough times and be patient.
4. Replace your thoughts
Negative thoughts have the power to repeat themselves. In other words, once we start having negative emotions, it continues as a cycle. One bad emotion leads to the other. Hence, when you have a bad feeling, instantly try to replace your thoughts. Additionally, distract yourself with something else that you love to do. Indeed it can be difficult in the beginning, but with practice, you can aim it. For instance, think about your favorite person or a great experience. This will take off your mind from negative emotions.
5. Choose how to respond
Nobody can prevent a bad situation. For instance, if something that your friend did, annoyed you, you can choose to respond differently. In simpler words, change the way you react to things. If something annoys you, simply step aside from the situation. Additionally, don't give it a thought or two. By far, it can be the most difficult step to follow. The reason being the way we respond to the situation becomes our habit. Hence, it is complicated to change it. Nevertheless, nothing is impossible. If you have the determination and the willpower to control your emotions, nobody can stop you.
Keeping control of your emotions can be tough but not impossible. There may be certain kinds of emotions that are hard to control, like anger.
