Jack Ma is one of the few self-made billionaires whose story is quite interesting. He was born in the southeastern part of China in Hangzhou. His parents were storytellers and musicians who hardly earned much. They weren't even making enough to be considered middle class.

He met a foreign girl who called him 'Jack' since his real name was difficult for her to spell. Later on, he went to graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in English. He also worked as an English teacher for a salary of $12 per month.

It is also a known fact that rejections were synonymous with Jack. There are multiple instances where Jack faced rejections. He failed to land a job for which he applied 30 times. He was even rejected by KFC. Additionally, he also failed in his initial two ventures. But that did not let Jack Ma down.

He kept on dreaming and aiming high. He convinced 17 of his friends to invest in Alibaba. The company initially began from his apartment. Today, Alibaba is a top e-commerce giant that Jack Ma dreamed of.
