1. Ask Yourself “where are you headed with this?”
To get rid of your laziness and procrastination, ask yourself a few questions. Where are you going with these behaviors? What good is it doing to you? These questions are like a rain-check for you. You and I can easily realize when we are going off-track from being productive. It's due to laziness or procrastination. Asking this question to yourself will make you act and get you back on track.
2. De-Clutter:
De-clutter your surroundings. De-clutter your negative emotions, fear, and other unproductive habits. Create possibilities that will make you ‘act’ instead of putting you on a couch.
3. 2- Minute Rule:
We procrastinate, and we get lazy when there is a long lineup of To-Do things. One easy trick to overcome laziness and procrastination is this “2-Minute Rule”. Among the tasks, you don’t feel like doing or want to postpone, pick the ones that can be done in ‘less than 2-Minutes’ or ‘from 2-5 Minutes’ time. You can definitely tick a handful of tasks from your extensive list. Few people have raised the bar here i.e. they pick tasks that take ‘half-an-hour’ to ‘one-hour’ time to complete and do them. Try it.
4. Action:
There comes a point where you will be forced to act despite all your laziness and procrastination. It definitely comes, maybe in the form of deadlines, targets, goals, or even as embarrassments. Don’t wait till that. Act as soon as you can. Actions beat laziness and procrastination.
5. Time:
Time-management is important for overcoming procrastination. Manage your time, you manage your tasks and feel like things are under your control. Even if it is a few hours, spend it wisely and get something useful done. Results will be 'less procrastination' and 'improved mindset' from laziness.
