Overthinking is when you spend too long a time thinking about someone or something. By doing so, you are, in a way complicating your life and multiplying the one single worry that you are probably facing.

Thinking overmuch on your mistakes, worries, weaknesses, and problems increase the risk of your mental state of mind. If you are mentally upset, you will not have the ability to even manage your day to day routine. If this continues to happen, in no time, you will have to face emotional distress.

But if it is hurting your day-to-day life and you are getting deep in the well of insomnia, that is, deprivation of sleep, then it is a problem. You must think of getting away from overthinking.
