The benefits of Lifelong Learning that can change your life

Life is a journey. Each one of us is the travelers who are just moving towards the destination. But, no one knows what the goal is for them. Either, no one can predict life. Someone's life is happily going; someone has many obstacles. Someone is so happy; someone wants to get out of life.

As life is so unpredictable, no one can guess its nature. But, it is entirely up to you how you want to live your life. How do you spend your time? Either, how do you make use of whatever you have in your hands?

We don't have time on our hands, but we have the opportunity of using time wisely.

Life teaches us so many things. Few understand it, and few can not afford it. Life gives us many lessons, good or bad. And we had to face each of them.

A human is a student of lifelong learning. Learning doesn't stop; it is a continuous action. Here, I will discuss what lifelong learning is and its benefits? Please have a look.

What is lifelong learning?

Whenever it comes to learning, the first place that comes in our mind is schools and institutions. But, life is itself a university, which has various subjects that are compulsory for each student.

No student can skip any subject. And that's why it is called lifelong learning.

In simple words, lifelong learning can be defined as self-begun education that focuses on a person's personality development. However, there is not any particular or fixed definition to explain lifelong learning.

But, you can say that education is taken outside of the institutions or schools or corporate training. It does not include informal or formal learning. But, it is the realization of teaching to achieve personal fulfillment.

We are all lifelong learners.

How would you understand personal fulfillment?

As a human, what things differ to us? It is the hobbies and interests we have, other than our formal schooling and jobs. If everyone were doing the same things, we would have to be a robot. But, humans have a natural curiosity, and they are natural learners. We, as a human, develop, fail, and grow.

Lifelong learning proves that not all of our knowledge comes from a room.

For example,

In childhood, we learn to talk, walk, run, and to ride a bike

When we grow up, we know how to use our smartphones or to cook a dish

These examples are best to explain to you the meaning of lifelong learning. These things we do daily, we try, we fail, and we learn, and this is what lifelong learning teaches to us.

Personal fulfillment and development are associated with our genuine interest, curiosity, and motivation that teaches us new things. These things don't lead by anyone, but you learn it yourself.

How to adopt lifelong learning in your life?

1) Recognizing your interest and goal

Lifelong learning is entirely about you and not about the other people in your life. It teaches you to give yourself importance and not to the other people and what they expect from you. It reflects your passion for something and what you dream about.

Like, if growing high in your career is your interest, you will find many ways to participate in self-organized learning to achieve the target. Or, if learning geography is your passion, you will find the same multiple ways to learn it.

2) Make a list of what you would like to learn

Once you have figured out what things motivate you, find out what it is about that particular goal or interest so that you feel passionate about it.

Coming to the example, if someone feels interested in geography, is it limited up to specific knowledge about a particular region on the earth, or it is so strong that you want to learn it so profoundly. You will be going for a Ph.D. in it.

Only learning and learning passionately about something, both are different aspects.

3) Verify how you would like to get involved and the resources available

Achieving a goal is not only about realizing it, but the real struggle starts from learning that. Now, when you know that is your goal, your next step should be learning how to move in your plan's direction.

Researching and reading about your interest and goal can be a necessary step for it.

Consider our geography example again; a student interested in learning the subject to know few things about is, can simply learn more about it by reading some books, blogs, podcasts, and magazines. They can also watch TV channels that are associated with geography.

A student passionate about geography and their goal are to pursue a Ph. D. to research a lot about any university that offers part-time or online programs in these subjects. The student will also have to put up the steps that are essential to complete a doctorate study.

4) Structure the learning goal in your life

If you are currently working and don't get time for your interests, fitting your dreams in this busy life needs considerable efforts. If you can not count some time from your busy schedule, it won't make any difference. This is the main reason behind feeling discouraged and giving up on your dream.

Plan out analyst the things that are needed to fit your dream in your life. For example, if you want to learn new languages, take out one hour a day for it.

Realize the time and space you can give to your goal to fulfill it. This will help you to stick to your plan.

5) Make a commitment

Commit to your plan goal. This would be the final and severe step towards your goal. If you can see your goal included in your life, self-motivation towards the plan's competition is necessary.

Learning a new sport or activity:

As no one teaches you to talk, no one teaches you to play. When you want to master something; indeed, you will need to know its techniques, but, primarily, you learn it yourself.

Ultimately, lifelong learning is essential for your self-satisfaction. As I said earlier, it is the only medium of achieving personal fulfillment.

In the journey from realizing your goal of completing it, you get to meet many things, good and bad. But when your goal is achieved, you learn self-satisfaction, which is most important.

It realizes that humans have a natural way of learning, analyzing various factors, learning and growing, and encouraging to improve your own life and quality of life. It also gives you a sense of self-growth by giving attention to the ideas and goals that inspire you.

Benefits of Lifelong Learning

Of course, if lifelong learning is essential for everyone, it would serve you many benefits. So, lifelong learning offers you many services, and a few of them are-

1) Renewed self-motivation

Many times, you will face a stacked situation in the journey. Sometimes you will figure out the solution and move on. But, when such conditions appear often, you feel like giving up.

But, if you are passionate about the thing, try to find out what inspired you to do this task. Keep recognizing those things that inspire you and keep trying and never give up on your dream.

It will help you take the driver seat back in your control, and this means you are self-motiving to move ahead.

2) Recognition of personal interest and goal

You can not imagine where your interest can lead you if you focus on it.

Don't ever just give up on something, as it seems complicated. Think about your goal again and again. Try to recognize those things that inspire you to do that. Recognize what things kicked you as a person to reduce boredom and make it full of excitement and interest.

This can also open up to make opportunities for your bright future. Lifelong learning teaches the same. It says, never stop. It would be best if you were walking continuously. One day, indeed, you will get your destination. But, till then, don't just stop and give up.

3) Improve self-confidence

Imagine you become world-famous. Thousands of people are waiting to hear from you. And you are up to go on the stage and say something.

I am giving this example because I know many of you might be suffering from stage fear. With this example, I am trying to say is, when you have achieved what you dreamed of, you know, you are successful, you have all the knowledge about a particular thing. And that is why you feel full of confidence.

So, ultimately, lifelong learning has fulfilled you with confidence. But, self-confidence is more important than just belief. If you can trust yourself, you can trust your abilities. Nothing can stop you.

This will happen only when you devote time to learning and improving the areas you think you are weak. If you are weak, it doesn't mean you can not improve it. But, it only needs your dedication to improvement.

This could be anything like, in your personal or professional life, you will uncover many examples where you need to have self-confidence. Only then can you deal with the situation.

4) Improvement in other personal and professional skills

Though we are working on one craft within ourselves, we are indirectly working on different skills. For example, if you are learning English fluently, you will feel more confident in your workplace where you were not feeling confident due to being unable to speak English. This is because we use other skills, too, in the practice of learning new skills. This is the ultimate way of learning.

When you learn something new, confidence gets added to your personality. Skill development can include problem-solving, interpersonal skills, critical thinking, reflection, leadership, adaptability, and many more things.

I hope you have got all the ideas about lifelong learning. I tried to tell you a little information about the importance and benefit of lifelong learning. Using this information, try to include some value in your life.
